Aug. 18th, 2010

Oh hey, I just discovered that this community existed.

The 2010 Pokemon VGCs have ended with the World Championships taking place just last week, and it was a memorable year for the VGCs in more ways than one! Not only did they get rid of the atrocious lottery system that plagued the year before, but we also saw Ray Rizzo get crowned the new Pokemon VGC champion of the world, meaning this marks the first time a competitor representing America has won in the Senior Division. Kinneas from Smogon has uploaded Rizzo's entire final matches against Yasuki Tochigi, so I'll link them here for your viewing pleasure...

Battle 3

And so a big congratulations to Ray Rizzo! Smogon left a big mark on the VGCs this year, and I hope they do the same next year as well. After finding out that the 2011 World Championships are being held at San Diego, I too have already begun preparations for the upcoming year. Either as a spectator or a competitor, I'll certainly be going to Worlds next year; however, unlike this year, I actually plan to save enough money so I can go to Nationals when I win an invite next year.

So excite.

Hey, thanks for posting here! I eventually became too busy to keep posting everything myself, so I took a break and focused on my job. Buuut now I think I'm ready to come back, since I'll be working on my team for next year.

I'm pretty sure I'll be at worlds next year, along with 3-4 of the stops to give live coverage via Twitter (or LJ, if I bring my laptop).

Not a problem! Looked like you needed some help after all, considering that you were like the only one posting in this community lol.

San Diego is like two hours away from me, so I am guaranteed to be going to old next year. Even so, I'll still be (hopefully) going to as many Regionals as possible, mainly because I just can't get enough of the Pokemon battle scene. Once Black and White comes out in Japan, I'll be spending a majority of my time doing all the hard and painful research and playtests for sure.

I think I'll work on starting this up again, as well as finding at least one other mod.

I'm actually going to be in Japan 4 days after the B/W release, so I plan to start working on my new team right away. Or multiple teams, since I have no idea what changes may happen. I'm really hoping they'll nix the Ubers since it really limited what could be done, but I suppose I could live with it... just gotta hope Zekrom is usable, since he's basically the most badass pokemon yet.
